Commencement update

Members of the Class of 2020 and 2021 and their families received an email on Friday, May 14 from Provost Beverly Wendland and Interim Vice Chancellor Rob Wild with information regarding the Center for Disease Control (CDC) updated guidance related to public health and COVID-19. In response, leaders in the St. Louis region have lifted many restrictions in the city and county, which affects the protocols the university originally put in place for commencement.

The following protocol updates are being made:

  • Graduates will be allowed to invite as many guests as they would like to attend the Commencement ceremonies.
  • Per guidance from our COVID Monitoring Team and our local health department, both of which advise wearing masks in large group situations, particularly when people’s vaccination status is unknown, we will still require masking for all faculty, staff, graduates and guests in attendance.

Visit the Commencement website to read the full content of the message.
